Her blessings give them pop and they leave Bettys lodge realizing that the common war is as yet a continuous fight and they are for the most part going to battle their hardest to pick up uniformity for everybody. Evaluate: I believed this was generally excellent; there is a huge amount of tension in the book, particularly when it gets late around evening time and these little youngsters are isolated in the forested areas. It was a genuine page turner the entire path through and I truly delighted in understanding it. I additionally felt like I could truly associate with the characters and it was difficult to see these guiltless little children be compelled to grow up so quick and she did such an extraordinary Job at crediting their feelings that I wound up feeling a similar way they felt. The main grumbling I had about this book was that the writer didnt make it extremely clear about how much time was going all through the book. I had compose notes and attempt to bits it all together to attempt to make sense of precisely to what extent they had been in the forested areas for. The manner in which the creator composed it caused it to appear as though they were just in the forested areas for a couple of days when truly it was around 3 months. Other than that, I cherished this book and I would enthusiastically suggest it.

East. St. Lousi Essay

East. St. Lousi Essay East. St. Lousi Essay Assembling it Soc 390 April 25, 2013 East St. Louis Illinois is advanced, by their Mayer in his site address, as a â€Å"great spot to live, to work, to work together, and to raise a family† (2011:245). This announcement appears to be opposing to the insights indicating that populace has declined by 33% since 1950 while joblessness is assessed at over half (2011:245). This paper will analyze the verifiable and current neighborhoods, openings for work, and family structures of East St. Louis by utilizing the hypotheses of Massey and Denton, Cohen, and Stack. It will likewise look at why destitution keeps on expanding and give contention that a significant change in social arrangement must occur to disassemble this propagating cycle. To comprehend what changes must be made, a short diagram of the historical backdrop of East St. Louis is vital. Neighborhoods In the mid twentieth century, East St. Louis was an all American city. Individuals from fluctuated foundations were flooding towards this mechanical problem area looking for work that was plenteous. Individuals were building houses and bringing families up in the peaceful rural areas of St. Louis city. Youngsters were allowed to play in the very much manicured open spaces. Couples could go for night walks and tune in to the music playing in the dance club and a lot of independent companies lined the avenues (2011:36). Be that as it may, with the political enthusiasm of this city being outfitted towards industry, this private heaven would before long get ugly. Today, East St. Louis is not really conspicuous to the occupants of its past. The once flourishing organizations are shut and the structures are uninhibited. The lanes are covered with refuse and rubble from the rot of the old structures (2011:39). Vandalism and wrongdoing have taken over in a large portion of the open spaces. T he present inhabitants of this city are currently left to manage the aftermath of this deserted milestone. This circumstance can be seen over and over in urban areas the country over. As examined in Streetwise, the town of Northton experienced a comparative change during World War II (1990:56). The convergence of employments carried allure to the town and thus pulled in lower salary families, the jobless. At the point when neediness moved into the territory, the affluent and working class inhabitants moved out. â€Å"The out-movement of white collar class families from ghetto territories deserted a penniless network coming up short on the establishments, assets, and qualities important for accomplishment in post-modern society†(1993:7). This statement is an accurate impression of what occurred in East St. Louis in the 1960’s. After the social equality development, dark families discovered expanding open doors for progression and began a movement towards better neighborhoods. Thus, white occupants began to escape in the late 1960’s (Nunes, 1998). The white modern laborers began seeing the flood of dark families from Brooklyn infringing on the Northern fringe of East St. Louis. This movement made white families go out just as their activity accordingly giving more assets to dark families moving in, white flight. Gradually the white-claimed ventures lost enthusiasm for the territory and began eliminating. The white collar class blacks stuck to this same pattern and left ju st the low salary dark families inside the city. The chance of getting away from this relinquished city is far-fetched without money related assets. Indeed, even the white collar class families that can effectively make it out of the ghettos are confronted with an exceptionally isolated lodging market (1993:9). Culture of destitution scholars refer to poor hard working attitudes and ethics as the defeat of the city and kept up that these characteristics convey across ages (Hamer 56). Notwithstanding, others refer to changes in government assistance approach focusing on expelling the poor from government assistance folds and compelling them into low pay work as â€Å"welfare racism† (Hamer 57). By and by I accept we can change the government assistance framework to expel the negative impacts without relinquishing the devastated. Once more,

Apparently the main thing K. accomplished to get from Klamm was Freida, his courtesan. Still not being fulfilled by that, K. proceeds with his long excu rsion of discovering Klamm and the motivation behind why an undesirable land assessor is in such a town. A great deal of the novel had neither rhyme nor reason, it is exceptionally drawn out and not immediate. K. is an undesirable outsider to the townspeople. The book shows that regardless of how hard one may attempt, others make some hard memories tolerating somebody they dont know. There is by all accounts clubs in the town much like there is today in the America society. K. is viewed as a dissident that didnt set in the methods of the town. K.was continually being driven away alongside the issues that should have been settled. Nobody appeared to mind or help K. in any case. The main individual that acknowledged K. for what his identity was is Freida, however yet Frieda at long last left K. for another person. Their relationship was dependent on desire, which finished in a startling way. One can see that a relations transport that has scurrilous inclinations won't work out. In spi te of the fact that this book was difficult to neglected one was as yet capable comprehend what is befalling K. When attempting to comprehend the novel one makes some hard memories making sense of the genuine importance behind the entirety of the disarray of the book. Indeed, even K. makes some hard memories making sense of why nobody will acknowledge the reality a land assessor was called. All the encounters and hardships helped make K. see increasingly about the world and the manner in which things work. Understanding that so as to live and accomplish objectives there are numerous things one must comprehend, experience and acknowledge. Acknowledgment is something everybody needs to learn. This book shows that by not tolerating each other one can not accomplish what is should have been finished. By tolerating change things can show signs of improvement or now and then more terrible as for this situation with K.

How to Write a Resume for a Job Expert CV Advice and Guide

If you’re reading this, we can assume two things about you: you’re a writer and you’re a job seeker. And if you’re anything like most writers, the job application process is quite daunting. Cover letters are a piece of cake. You know how to sell yourself in three paragraphs or less. But resumes are a different story. It certainly doesn’t help that resume trends keep changing. One year employers want a head shot and cardstock resume paper. The next year, your snail mail resume will immediately be filed through the shredder. Here are a few tips on how to write a resume for a job. You can edit your resume immediately, using our pointers to improve your chances of landing your next interview. How to Write a Resume for a Job The most important tip we can give you to improve your resume is to keep the format  clean. If you’re starting your resume from scratch, awesome. If you’re reworking your current resume, then you’ll need to closely examine it. Does it include text boxes and â€Å"trendy† fonts? Take them out. Go ahead, do it now. Then go download yourself a clean, no-frills template from a site like Microsoft Office. The top one-third of your resume is the most important. If we’re being honest, sometimes it’s all the HR department will look at. Once you’re targeted as a viable candidate, your references and educational background will be checked, but before that happens, you’ll need to make the top section stand out. We’ll talk about that in a minute. Everything below that top third is just details. Those details are important, but your objective is to get noticed. Here are a few dos and don’ts about how to write a resume for a job: Do include your employment history. We’ll look at this in a bit more detail later. Do include any relevant certifications, licenses or organizations you hold/belong to. Do include your educational background, but keep it simple. Usually university degrees will suffice. There’s no need to include high school or grade school. Don’t include references. You can provide these as your conversation with your employer progresses. Don’t include dates. Your hiring manager doesn’t need to know that you graduated college 46 years ago. Ageism is real, folks. Don’t contribute to it by dating yourself. Delete Your Objective â€Å"Ask not what your country can do for you†¦Ã¢â‚¬ Maybe John F. Kennedy wasn’t thinking of writing resumes when he said this, but the principle is applicable to crafting your resume. Your prospective employer couldn’t care less about your career goals. It’s just the truth. â€Å"But,† you counter, â€Å"my interviewer asked me where I want to be in five years!† Yes, when you interview for a position as an IT analyst, your prospective employer wants to know that your career goal isn’t to build lighthouses. You already know that the top third of your resume is critical to landing your interview. With that in mind, delete your objective immediately. Just 86 it, no matter how brilliantly written you think it is. You don’t need it. What you need, instead, is to think about how you can benefit the company you’re applying to. Are you in sales? Your interviewer won’t care that you met your quota each month. Tell her instead how you increased your retail location’s visibility in the community via a local event. Are you an information security professional? It won’t matter that you â€Å"completed projects in a timely fashion.† Instead, tell your new boss how you caught that data leak and implemented a new security protocol for Patient Records. Revise and reword, and make this section count. Give your hiring manager something to ask you in your interview. Instead of filling in the blanks as to what you did, make her ask you how you did it. Make Your Resume  Stand Out Gone are the days when Elle Woods’s pink scented resume would be immediately noticed. No, that’s actually a lie. That was never a good idea. But one thing we can say for Elle is that her resume did stand out. You can make your resume stand out, too. Today, job applications are primarily submitted online. This opens a multitude of doors for you to make your own resume unique†¦ how you do this is up to you. But because we like you, we’ll give you a few pointers on how to write a resume for a job which gets noticed. First, because you’ll probably be submitting your resume through a headhunting site like monster.com or indeed.com, you’ll want to be sure you include keywords which are relevant to the position you’re seeking. Include the obvious keywords, like â€Å"customer service experience† or â€Å"employee scheduling.† But be creative, as well. Use action words such as â€Å"accomplished† or â€Å"developed† to enhance your resume. Secondly, you’re using technology, so make the best of it. Opt for an interactive resume. Include hypertext with links to your portfolio or your LinkedIn profile. You can even direct your email address to connect to you via Skype. Use your imagination, and let your prospective employer see that you know how to use the computer you’re typing on. Finally, despite everything we just told you, there should still be some measure of simplicity. Be certain that your future boss will be able to glean information about you from just a glance at your resume. She receives hundreds of resumes, and the last thing she’ll do is click a hundred links just to get to yours. Keep your achievements visible. Use the links to showcase the specifics. Just dont go overboard. Use your Gift for Writing If you’re like a million other people, you sometimes feel that you’ve had a bit of a ho-hum employment history. Whatever you do, don’t let this feeling of insecurity translate to a shoddy resume. You are the right person for this job! You can perform the work requirements. Maybe you’re looking for a job in childcare when previously you’d been a short order cook. That’s great. Tell the boss that you’re familiar with the dietary  requirements of those kiddoes, and that you’re also familiar with sanitation practices. If you were a cashier at a big box retailer and now you’d like to manage one, tell HR about your experience with scheduling your fellow minions’ lunch breaks. Even if you only did it once. Learning how to write a resume for a job isn’t rocket science, even though sometimes it feels that way. A streamlined resume in conjunction with a well written cover letter is really all you need. Be honest with yourself and your employer, use your creativity, and you’ll be sitting in interviews before you know it.

Example Chi-Square Test for a Multinomial Experiment

One use of a chi-square distribution is with hypothesis tests for multinomial experiments. To see how this hypothesis test works, we will investigate the following two examples.   Both examples work through the same set of steps: Form the null and alternative hypothesesCalculate the test statisticFind the critical valueMake a decision on whether to reject or fail to reject our null hypothesis.   Example 1: A Fair Coin For our first example, we want to look at a coin.   A fair coin has an equal probability of 1/2 of coming up heads or tails. We toss a coin 1000 times and record the results of a total of 580 heads and 420 tails. We want to test the hypothesis at a 95% level of confidence that the coin we flipped is fair. More formally, the null hypothesis H0 is that the coin is fair. Since we are comparing observed frequencies of results from a coin toss to the expected frequencies from an idealized fair coin, a chi-square test should be used. Compute the Chi-Square Statistic We begin by computing the chi-square statistic for this scenario. There are two events, heads and tails. Heads has an observed frequency of f1 580 with expected frequency of e1 50% x 1000 500. Tails have an observed frequency of f2 420 with an expected frequency of e1 500. We now use the formula for the chi-square statistic and see that χ2 (f1 - e1 )2/e1 (f2 - e2 )2/e2 802/500 (-80)2/500 25.6. Find the Critical Value Next, we need to find the critical value for the proper chi-square distribution. Since there are two outcomes for the coin there are two categories to consider. The number of degrees of freedom is one less than the number of categories: 2 - 1 1. We use the chi-square distribution for this number of degrees of freedom and see that χ20.953.841. Reject or Fail to Reject? Finally, we compare the calculated chi-square statistic with the critical value from the table. Since 25.6 3.841, we reject the null hypothesis that this is a fair coin. Example 2: A Fair Die A fair die has an equal probability of 1/6 of rolling a one, two, three, four, five or six. We roll a die 600 times and note that we roll a one 106 times, a two 90 times, a three 98 times, a four 102 times, a five 100 times and a six 104 times. We want to test the hypothesis at a 95% level of confidence that we have a fair die. Compute the Chi-Square Statistic There are six events, each with expected frequency of 1/6 x 600 100. The observed frequencies are f1 106, f2 90, f3 98, f4 102, f5 100, f6 104, We now use the formula for the chi-square statistic and see that χ2 (f1 - e1 )2/e1 (f2 - e2 )2/e2 (f3 - e3 )2/e3(f4 - e4 )2/e4(f5 - e5 )2/e5(f6 - e6 )2/e6 1.6. Find the Critical Value Next, we need to find the critical value for the proper chi-square distribution. Since there are six categories of outcomes for the die, the number of degrees of freedom is one less than this: 6 - 1 5. We use the chi-square distribution for five degrees of freedom and see that χ20.9511.071. Reject or Fail to Reject? Finally, we compare the calculated chi-square statistic with the critical value from the table. Since the calculated chi-square statistic is 1.6 is less than our critical value of 11.071, we fail to reject the null hypothesis.

The Sorrow Of War And Full Metal Jacket Essay - 1287 Words

The Sorrow of War and Full Metal Jacket both have one main element in common – the Vietnam War. Other than the similar time period, these two representations of the Vietnam War differ drastically. The Sorrow of War, a novel written by Bao Ninh, follows a North Vietnamese solider named Kien during his years fighting for the communist regime and documenting his hardships before, during, and after the war. Full Metal Jacket is a movie that depicts the American side of the war in Vietnam, focusing on one group of Marine recruits and their journey to the frontlines. Both representations contain similar themes of mental illness, personal sufferings, and unfathomable wartime situations. Nevertheless, I believe that The Sorrow of War captures human emotion and turmoil more precisely than Full Metal Jacket does through the author’s word choice and exemplary descriptions of his sorrows experienced due to the war. The Sorrow of War shows the Vietnam War from a communist’s point of view; a perspective that is often overlooked and misunderstood by Americans. This literary work exemplifies the idea that all humans encompass feelings and emotions regardless of their political affiliation, citizenship, and/or ethnicity. Furthermore, Americans are seen as the â€Å"bad guys† to the North Vietnamese, invading their country, killing their people, and raping their women. However, the main ingredients of Next-Generation Batteries are sodium, aluminum and zinc which do not have an adverse effect toward the environment and the ecosystem. There is some Unique Selling Propositions (USP) of Next-Generation Batteries. First of all, they come in all sizes. That is they can be used for the house purposes as well as for the industrial purposes. The Next-Generation Batteries have the capacity to provide power to a whole small village. One of the greatest USPs of this kind of batteries is the affordable price. The price of Next-Generation Batteries is comparatively lower than the conventional batteries. On the other hand, Next-Generation Batteries are emission free batte ries which use less energy so that they can be used for lone times (www.weforum.org 2016). Target Customers Customers are one of the most important aspects of a marketing plan as the product is developed for them. The first aspect of developing a marketing plan is to set the target customers (Ratliff Gallego, 2013). In the case of Next-Generation Batteries, there are certain divisions in the target customers. As per the description, Next-Generation Batteries are available in different sizes for different uses. Firstly, the target customers will be divided in two age groups; they are 7years-25 years and 25 years above (Wedel Kamakura, 2012). The first age group consists of school and college goers who need to use calculators, laptops and other educational props which need batteries. The second age group consists of professionals and businessmen who need batteries for different uses. On the other hand, the Next-Generation Batteries will be available for the industrial purposes. Now-a-days businesses have become more environments friendly. Thus, the Next-Generation Batteries will be popular among the business for its environment friendly features. The Next-Generation Batteries will be available for lighting up the remote villages where there is no connection of electricity. These are the potential customers of the Next-Generation Batteries. It is believed that the unique features of the product will make in popular among the users. Pricing and Positioning Strategies Pricing and positioning strategies set the direction of a product as they are very much crucial for the success of a product. In case of the Next-Generation Batteries, high penetration pricing policy has been recommended. In the high penetration strategy, initially the price of the product is kept low to gain popularity (Spann, Fischer Tellis, 2014). This strategy is perfectly applicable for the Next-Generation Batteries as it is brand new product in the market. Though the price of this kind of batteries are lower than the conventional batteries, the much lower price at the time of introduction will help in switching the customers from other products to this product (Kireyev, Kumar Ofek, 2014). Positioning strategy refers to the techniques to present the new technology to the customers. There is no need for competitors analysis as the Next-Generation Batteries are brand new products and no other companies produce this kind of product. Hence, there is strong need to make the customers know about the products. The tagline for the Next-Generation Batteries will be Power for the World. The advertisement of this product will be come with this tagline. The USPs of the product needs to be stated clearly as it will create mass awareness about the Next-Generation Batteries (Solomon, 2014). Distribution Plan Distribution plan refers to the process of distributing the product among the customers. There are certain factors in this process that needs to be taken care in a good manner (Bai Xu, 2015). As the adopted price policy is high penetration, it is recommended that there should be fewer intermediaries between the producers and the customer. Next-Generation Batteries are a brand new technology in the market. Though it is an excellent product, it is not possible to ascertain the demand of the product. Hence, it is recommended that the company should produce a minimum unit of products to test the market demand. After that, production will be done accordingly. Various types of Next-Generation Batteries will be delivered to different shops and dealers for the purpose of selling. Customers can buy the Next-Generation Batteries from those shops directly. On the other hand, the company is planning to give dealership of the Next-Generation Batteries to the interested dealers. They will buy the product on the behalf of the company. In case of the large Next-Generation Batteries, there will be support for the installation of the batteries in plants and other places. There will be a system of after sales services for the large batteries (Raut, 2013). Offers Offer is an important tool for marketing plan. Attractive offers always help to attract more customers toward the product (Jolibert et al., 2012). In the case of the Next-Generation Batteries, there is a great significance of offers in formulating the marketing plans and strategies. As per the report, the Next-Generation Batteries are an emerging technology which has never used before. Hence, it is natural that people will be hesitated to buy the products and use them as there is a high chance of making loss. This is the part where attractive offers play a special role. Some special deals and offers have been developed. There will be a discount of 20% on the price of all batteries in the first six months of launching. Guarantee period will be offered with each type of Next-Generation Batteries. In case of any inconveniences in the guarantee period, the product will be replaces with another new one. In case of the big Next-Generation Batteries, the post installation services for six m onths will be provided in free of cost. Again, in case of the big batteries, live online support will be provided by the technological expert of the company for 24*7. These are the attractive offers and services offered by the company (Christopher, Payne Ballantyne, 2013). Marketing Materials Marketing material refers to various printed pieces that will help to market the business. There are various kind of marketing materials are available to promote the new product (Crocker, 2016). In case of the Next-Generation Batteries, the following marketing materials are suggested: A well-designed website: This is the era of internet. In this era, people like to search for everything in the Google. Thus, it is much needed to develop a well designed website which will contain all necessary information about the Next-Generation Batteries (Gibbs Gretzel, 2015). Business Cards: A well-designed business card is another excellent way to promote the business of Next-Generation Batteries. A potential customer may not be interested to by the products until he/she is handed a business card. A lot of people will come to know about the product through these press releases. Joint Ventures and Partnerships There is a huge cost involved in the process of presenting a new emerging technology in the market. First of all, it is a process of continuous learning which requires research and the research cost is generally very high. Thus, it is suggested that the company should make a partnership or make a joint venture with other technological companies so that the research process can be carried on smoothly (Killing, 2012). In this perspective, it is recommended to tie up with electronic companies and automotive companies. These two types of companies are recommended because they have operations which include various types of batteries. On the other hand, the joint venture will help to raise funds for the further research and development of the Next-Generation Batteries. Thus, it is recommended to make a partnership or joint venture for the betterment of the research (Lorange, 2013). Financial Projection Financial projection refers to the forecast or estimation of the revenues and the expense of an organization. On the other hand, the financial projection also includes the long term financial plans of an organization (Jesus Silva, 2012). In case of the Next-Generation Batteries, it is not possible to find out the historical financial data of the product as it is brand new product. Again, it is not possible to know the revenues. However, the revenues can be estimated. There are various cost involved in the process of development and marketing of the Next-Generation Batteries. The expenses are the development expense, promotional expense, marketing expense and others. The projected expenses are shown below: Expenses Cost ($) Development Expense 2,00,000 Promotional Expense 1,00,000 Advertising Expense 75,000 Legal Expense 50,000 Distribution Expense 50,000 Others 25,000 Total 5,00,000 The above table shows the projected expenses of the development of the Next-Generation Batteries and the marketing cost. As per the above table, the expense which includes the most amount of money is the development cost of the Next-Generation Batteries. As this is a new product in the market, it needs a lot of promotion and advertisements. This is why there is a large expense projected in promotional and advertisement activities. There are other expenses like the legal and distribution expenses. It is predicted that the new technology that is the Next-Generation Batteries will generate revenue of more than $ 5, 00,000. However, the exact amount cannot be predicted. The long term financial plan of the company is to gain the top market share in terms of the revenue from Next-Generation Batteries. The expenses will be shared by the partner companies as a joint venture is proposed. On the other hand, the necessary funds will be provided by the main as well as by the partner companies (G artner, Frid Alexander, 2012). Conclusion Technology is an important aspect in todays life. It is almost difficult to survive without the help of technology. Standing at this point, emerging technologies are covering the world gradually.
